Nice work! We often ask our foods and beverages to fulfill emotional needs. Food science has enabled products to take on sensory characteristics that trick our brains into thinking they can replace other forms of connection. When we use them more for nourishment and to connect to the Earth (especially by growing stuff), we're less likely to stray into addictive or otherwise harmful behaviors. Thriving in a food system based on ingredient quality corner-cutting and exploitation is tricky. But asking what we're trying to get out of what we consume can help.
