Data is important to pragmatists. It's often dangerous for dogmatists. The former use it to determine effective approaches. The latter fudge or hide it when concerned it could expose their approaches as ineffectual. We definitely need to call out anyone sharing misleading numbers on an issue this important.
The CDC also just published these numbers on COVID-19. They make no sense to me. If the "scenario 5" best estimate of 0.004 means that there are 4 deaths per 1000 symptomatic cases and we've had 100,000 deaths, there would have to be 25 million symptomatic cases so far. We’ve reported about 1,700,000 total cases at this point. It makes sense that most of those were symptomatic based on who’s been able to get tested. Can anybody help me understand what's going on with this table? Thanks!
